Mark A. Benyovszky, CEO

Mark is a recognized expert in the management consulting industry.  He has more than 16 years of industry, management, and technology consulting experience.  Mark is actively sought out on the national and international speaking circuit where he covers a diverse set of topics ranging from business and technology strategy alignment and integration to applying model theory to enterprise architecture practices and approaches. 

Mark is a lecturer to MBA students at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.  In addition to his lecturing activities in the States, he actively lectures at industry conferences in Europe and the Middle East.  Mark consults to companies all over the world; he recently returned from the Middle East where he helped a leading company address risk and strategy related issues at the board level.

Prior to establishing Synthesis, Mark was a key member of the senior management team of a global consulting organization with more than 900 consultants.  While there, Mark led the company’s global energy consulting practice, managed a $12 million (USD) P&L, and successfully delivered the most advanced technology solutions to the company’s clients. 

In addition to his consulting experience, Mark has an extensive IT operations and management background.  He was the CTO of a $5 billion distributor of maintenance, repair and operation (MRO) equipment.  While at this company, he was a key member of the senior management team responsible for $500 million of the company’s on-line revenues.  He was responsible for designing and leading the development team of the most advanced internet trading exchange, which represented more than $30 billion of business in the MRO industry. 

Mark is on the Board of Directors of the Benyovszky Humanitarian Corporation, a not-for-profit charitable organization established by his family, and also oversees the Help Madagascar Initiative.

Coleman Barney, Advisory Board Member

Coleman Barney is the President and CEO of Cogito, Inc., a venture-backed enterprise software company.  Prior to joining Cogito, Coleman recently served as President and CEO of Optura, an enterprise software company specializing in business process improvement software solutions.  Optura was sold to OpenText Corp (NASDAQ: OTEX) in 2005.  Before Optura, Coleman was co-founder of SBI Group, which grew to be a $145 million service provider of enterprise solutions with over 900 employees which was sold to aQuantive/Avenue A (NASDAQ: AQNT).  Previous experience includes Vice President of Marketing for Novell's Netware products division, responsible for the worldwide marketing strategy of the $850 million Netware product line.  Additional management experience includes several years at Microsoft, working to deliver MS Office and other Windows applications to market.

 

Michael J. Herzog, Advisory Board Member

Michael is the President and CEO of nexB, Inc., a Sunnyvale, California based software company, which is developing open business software for enterprise asset management.  Michael has over twenty years of experience in the enterprise software industry including executive and management roles in product management, marketing, engineering and consulting.  He gained that experience at companies including BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting), Elevon, Oracle, Walker Interactive (formerly Walker Interactive – recently acquired by SSA), Oracle, Xceleris, Xoriant, and at several consultancies. 

While at KPMG Consulting, Michael was a Managing Director, member of the Operating Committee and Senior Vice-President responsible for High Tech Solutions including strategy and integration.  Previously at KPMG, he launched the national (U.S.) Oracle practice and grew it to a $500M+ annual business globally.  Prior to joining KPMG, Michael was an executive in the Oracle Applications division where he designed and launched seven products in three years.  Michael has extensive, hands-on experience in developing large-scale custom systems and implementing enterprise software packages.  His clients have ranged from Cisco, Bechtel, Motorola and other Fortune 100 companies to startups.

Michael received his undergraduate degree from Harvard.

 

David Schwab, J.D., CPA, Advisory Board Member

Since 1990, David has developed a law practice specializing in business planning and structuring, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy and creditors rights.  He and his law firm, Richards, Ralph & Schwab, Chtd., are recognized by Martindale Hubbell’s Bar of Preeminent Lawyers in the areas of Business Law, Commercial Litigation, and Bankruptcy Law.  As a trained CPA and practicing attorney, David is uniquely qualified to assist companies from both a financial and legal perspective.

David received his law degree from the DePaul University College of Law.  While in law school, he was an executive editor of the DePaul Business Law Journal.  He also served as an “extern” for the Hon. Robert E. Ginsberg, United States Bankruptcy Judge. In that position he researched the law and drafted legal opinions for cases being heard by Judge Ginsberg.  Prior to law school, David worked as a business consultant for Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers).  He obtained his undergraduate degree in accounting from Indiana University.

Recognized by his peers as an expert in bankruptcy and financial workouts, David has served as a lecturer for the Lake County Bar Association (Bankruptcy Committee), the Association of Illinois Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.  He is a co-author of “Assignment of Rents in Bankruptcy” for the Commercial Law League of America.  David serves as the President of Illinois Association of Illinois Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, and has served on the DePaul University College of Law Alumni Board.  He is also an active member of the Chicago Bar Association Bankruptcy Committee.

David is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

 

Steve Wigginton, Advisory Board Member

Steve Wigginton serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Health Integrated.  He is responsible for the operational management of the company, including sales, marketing, product and program development, clinical operations and information technology.  Prior to joining Health Integrated, Steve held a variety of leadership positions in rapidly growing private and public companies, with a consistent focus on harnessing the potential of deeply knowledgeable and talented people to deliver exceptional results.  Most recently, as the Executive Vice President of Neoforma (NASDAQ: NEOF), Mr. Wigginton helped bring powerful tools to market to enable healthcare providers to get a handle on their pharmaceutical and supply management expenses, with a focus on measurable return-on-investment and ease of use and deployment.  Prior to Neoforma, Steve gained experience across a variety of industries – including software development, publishing, manufacturing and advertising – in roles of increasing responsibility and functional scope.  Mr. Wigginton has co-founded and successfully sold two companies, Pharos Technologies and E-Span, and has direct managerial experience across the full spectrum of business operations.
